This is my “Roaring Lion” model for a Cob Oven I’m planning to build. Inside the mouth cavity is the fire oven which will burn bright and hot! I might make the nostrils as the exit for the chimney too so smoke comes out of them.
I made it out of Sculpey modeling clay.
I Love your Lion Oven. I is beautiful. I am crazy about Big cats, so one of these would look great on my patio for bread and pizza baking. Or are your ovens for decorating purposes only?
Of-course my oven would have to be much larger.
Instead of the nose, could you have the smoke coming out of the ears, maybe?
I think he needs more Mane. Also the eyes might be made of fire resistant glass so they glowed when the oven is fired up. What do you think?
Hey Carlyn,
Thanks for your comments and ideas on my Lion model!
I’m actually building a cob oven right now. I’ve been documenting the whole process and I’ll be putting it on the site soon.
Anyway, this Lion model was intended for a functional oven. Once I get some more practice I might build this model.
I’ll have further details on my site soon about purchasing cob ovens if you’re ever interested.
Fire in the mouth, smoke from the nostrils, and possibly glowing eyes…
Those will be cool in a lion, but what they really make me think of is a dragon. 😉
